Who We Are
The challenge might seem difficult, almost impossible: Bring the new Strainer historic Restaurant –Piano Bar to its Portofino glory of the past. Rather than located in the “piazzetta,” this restaurant is nestled near the luxury yachts with a beautiful view of all of Portofino. Gerardo Di Gregorio, the new chef who since 2006 is the new owner, and wife Anna have all the right ingredients to bring the restaurant to its past and perhaps even more. The wait staff at Strainer Restaurant also speaks English, German, and French.

Our wine list is adequate to meet the needs of large connoisseurs. Some of the wines include Gaja, Costa Russi, Lupicala, Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, and Gavi la Scloca, and champagne
The Chef
Gerardo Di Gregorio, with more than 40 years of experience , has cooked in some of the best restaurants in Milan, Dusseldorf, London and golf club of Rapallo. His passion for cooking combined with his simple yet delicious recipes mark the success of the new Strainer Restaurant. His ability to change the menu according to customer requirements and the changing seasons make for a wonderful dining experience.

Music
Cerato Alfredo, aka “Dedo, “ was born in Genoa in 1953. He began his artistic career by participating in singing selections for the festival of Castrecaro. In 1968, as the lead guitarist for the band “New Rock,” he made his way through the pubs of Liguria including, Spring Hall, Sayonara, Torriglietta Rainbow, and Roof Garden of the Casino of Sanremo. The group disbanded in the ‘80s and he emerged as a soloist and cabaret performer predominantly in Da Giacomo, Al Pitosforo, and Stainer of Portofino. In subsequent years, along with his guitar and keyboard, Dedo became the entertainer of Vittorio Al Mare di Boccadiasse, Continental Hotels of Santa Margherita ligure, and Grand Caffe Rapallo. In 1998, with a new band, “La Pazza Band,” he played at Bistrot in the harbor of Genoa and for a local television channel. In the last few years, he played at Caravella di Corso Italia, Torre Cambiaso di Pegli, and al bar Sereno di Boccadasse. He returned to Stainer Restaurant in 2007.
